Government employees of the Hachinohe Board of Education direct citizens towards the top floor of the Sogo Kyoiku Center building after rapidly receding tides triggered a tsunami warning at 11:16 this morning. It fortunately proved to be a false alarm.

Kyodo news agency is currently quoting the Japanese Meteorological Agency as predicting a 70 percent chance of another magnitude 7 or stronger quake striking in the next few days.
